A : Because we are passionate about art but frustrated by the current opportunities available for people who came to art later in life, didn’t go to art college, and have struggled to find a suitable group where they could develop. There are lots of art groups where you can learn a lot but in our experience this is mainly from the group members themselves.
The groups attached to an artist's web site are, understandably, there to grow membership and site traffic.
In some cases—not all, they provide little direct help or consultation to the members. This club is specifically for artists themselves and hopes to build on a cooperative approach where, through a passion for our subject knowledge experience and guidance is freely shared between the membership.
A: Very simple the members. It was the artists our founder Mark met as he developed his passion and skill set who helped him and in some sense developed the concept behind Art-Club.
Think how beneficial it would be for members new to art with a limited skill set but a willingness to learn if they could within their group offer help at every stage in the devlopment of a piece.
An artist might want to turn a recent photo or sketch into a finished piece and would value other artists’ opinions on—what to leave in, what to take out, where to set the horizon, and what the focal point should be.
All before the work is started.
Then, as they progress, to be able to post updates at various stages as the work progresses for the group to critique. Almost an online project from concept through critique to final review but provided by the members.
A: At Art-Club.net, the member who uploads an image retains full ownership of their artwork. We respect each artist’s rights and will only feature images in our public gallery with the explicit permission of the member. When an artwork is included in the gallery, we ensure the artist is properly recognised by displaying their name alongside their work. This approach reflects our commitment to protecting artists’ intellectual property while promoting their creations within the Art Club community.
A: Art-Club.net is designed as a supportive and inclusive space specifically for artists and art enthusiasts who have faced common challenges such as frustration, self-doubt, or confusion about particular techniques or mediums. Unlike traditional art platforms, Art-Club.net focuses on creating a safe environment where members can openly share their passion, exchange experiences, and seek advice among like-minded individuals. This approach fosters personal growth and creative development through mutual understanding and encouragement, making it an ideal community for anyone looking to connect with others who truly understand the artistic journey.
A: At Art-Club.net, membership is currently free for the next twelve months, allowing you to explore the club’s offerings and community without any upfront cost. During this initial year, you can fully engage with our resources, events, and networking opportunities to see if they meet your artistic and creative needs. When the annual renewal period arrives, you have two options: you can continue as a follower at no additional cost, maintaining access to basic club features, or you can choose to upgrade by paying an annual subscription of £2.50 per month. Opting for the subscription grants you lifetime membership, unlocking enhanced benefits such as exclusive content, priority event invitations, and advanced networking tools tailored to support your growth as an artist. This flexible model allows you a full year to evaluate the value of Art-Club.net before committing financially, ensuring that membership truly aligns with your goals.
A: At Art-Club.net, membership is initially free for the first twelve months, allowing new members to fully experience our offerings without commitment. After this introductory period, we envisage a membership fee of £2.50 per month. This fee is set solely to cover the club’s running costs and the maintenance of our website, ensuring that we can continue to provide a high-quality service. While we currently hope this fee will remain stable, any future changes will depend on member consensus and how the community wishes to develop and expand club activities. Our approach emphasizes transparency and member involvement in decisions related to fees and the club’s future direction.
A: Art-Club.net has just recently launched, so membership numbers are understandably low at this early stage. The club is intentionally taking a measured approach and is in no rush to rapidly increase membership. Over the next few months, Art-Club.net will focus on quietly promoting the existence of the club and inviting artists to join, without aggressive marketing tactics. This patient growth strategy reflects the club’s core mission—to serve as a meaningful way to give back to the artists who have supported our founder, Mark, throughout his creative journey. By fostering a genuine, engaged community of artists at a sustainable pace, Art-Club.net aims to build a supportive and collaborative environment that benefits all members in the long term.
A: To apply for membership at Art-Club.net, you need to complete our straightforward application form. This form requires you to answer a few questions designed to help us understand your artistic background and interests. Additionally, you should submit two or three examples of your artwork. This allows us to assess your abilities accurately and tailor support to your needs. The application is designed to be simple and efficient, ensuring we can provide the best possible guidance and resources for your artistic development within the club.
A: Art-Club.net operates on the principle of joint development and peer learning within its specific membership groups rather than offering official online demonstrations or training sessions on behalf of the entire club.
While you will not find any centralized or club-wide instructional content, individual groups within Art-Club.net have the autonomy to create and share videos or training materials exclusively for their members if they choose to do so. This approach encourages collaborative growth tailored to the interests and needs of each group, fostering a more personalized and member-driven learning environment.
A: Absolutely not. Art-Club.net does not operate an online shop or sell any products directly through the site. Instead, the platform focuses on providing a community space where members can share, discuss, and critique artworks and related materials. While product reviews and critiques may occur, these evaluations are organized and managed within member groups rather than through any official sales channel. This approach ensures that Art-Club.net remains dedicated to fostering artistic dialogue and collaboration without commercial transactions interfering with the community experience.
A: Members at Art-Club.net carefully evaluate the value of their artwork based on a combination of creative expression, technical skill, and the unique vision embodied in each piece. The club encourages artists to consider factors such as originality, the time invested in creation, and the emotional or conceptual impact of their work. Additionally, market demand and feedback from the Art Club community play a role in establishing fair and respectful pricing. This holistic approach ensures that the value reflects both the intrinsic artistic quality and the meaningful connection between the artist and their audience.
